The Bihar government has started the tender process for mineral blocks. In Bihar, soon the state government will start mining of chromium-potassium mineral blocks along with gold. Mines and Geology Minister Janak Ram gave these things on Friday. The Minister said that in many districts including Nawada, Jamui, Aurangabad large deposits of nickel, chromium, potash and gold have been found, the mining of which is going to start soon. One block of chromium, nickel and three blocks of potash have been found. On the other hand, deposits of gold have been found in Sono block of Jamui and chromium in Aurangabad.
In fact, in the past, the Union Ministry of Mines has handed over mineral blocks to the state of Bihar. These mines are of chromium and potassium. Let me tell you that these mines are located in Sasaram, Rohtas, Gaya and Aurangabad districts. Union Coal and Mining Minister Prahlad Joshi handed over the mineral survey papers to Bihar’s Mines and Geology Minister Janak Ram. Then the central government handed over 100 blocks of different minerals to 14 states and urged them to auction them at the earliest.
Janak Ram said that Bihar has been given 4 blocks in which 3 are of potassium and one of chromium. This includes Tipa mineral block of 8 sq km, Nadwadih block of 10 sq km in Sasaram-Rohtas and 7 sq km block at Shahpur. All three are blocks of potassium. Apart from this, there are blocks of chromium in Aurangabad-Gaya. It is of 8 sq km. Chromium is used in aviation and mobile. Which will directly benefit Bihar. The minister said that the state government would start the process of auction soon after studying various aspects related to these blocks.
This was the first time since the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act was amended in March to allow auction of mineral blocks at the initial survey stage. Till now out of the 4 levels of mining survey, the G-4 level survey could be done only by government agencies or PSUs. Let me tell you that chromium is a silver-white colored metal. And it has a light blue tint. It is tough and anti-junk. Used in steel hardening, ball-bearings, stainless steel making, safes, armor, cutting tools, etc. It is also used in aviation and mobile manufacturing.
